Welcome
Welcome to The Worthy St Craft Beer Showcase
The Brew Festival and Sampling only run from
noon-4pm, but the music continues on all night.
Smiths Billiards has been in operation since 1902 and is known to be the longest continuously running pool hall in the United States. Over the last ten years Smiths has built a reputation for its amazing beer selections. Around four and a half years ago a trend was noticed, shifting from the beers of the world to high end craft breweries. We jumped on the opportunity to get in on this market and the results have been truly amazing.
The idea of having a Beer Showcase stems from the culmination of the emergence of the craft brewing movement and Smiths being known as the place to get great beer in Springfield/Western Mass. We combined some of our favorite features from all of the great events that we have attended to create this event. The Worthy Craft Beer Showcase will be an ultimate showcase of Smiths beer offerings and all that is wonderful in this amazing industry!
We have asked each brewery to bring one of their great “everyday beers” and one of their “specialty beers”. We did this to attract the novice beer drinkers as well as the “beer geek”! The response from the breweries on this request has been met with open arms and some of the specialty beers will blow people away. We are looking forward to an amazing day with some amazing beers, featuring an ultimate collection of bands to celebrate in this joyous festivity!
Theodores’ BBQ is a 30+ year old Blues club in the heart of Springfield’s Entertainment District. Theos’ serves up The Valley’s Best Barbeque 7 days a week and their stage features the best in national, regional and local music Tuesday through Saturday. In 2004 Theodores’ was recognized by The Blues Foundation and was names ‘Best Blues Club in the Country’ with a KBA Award (Keeping the Blues Alive).
Over the last half year, Theodores’ has started sharing their stage with music genres outside of the Blues box. We’ve taken a few of our favorite artists and scheduled an entire day of music that’ll surely satisfy the music lover in all of us.
Our local boys, The Primate Fiasco, come from Northampton. Their ‘psychedelic dixieland’ sound, as they describe it, incorporates familiar show tunes that we’ve all been listening to since we were kids. We had the gang down to celebrate our most recent Mardi Gras celebration and it’ll be difficult to imagine Mardi Gras celebrated with any band other than The Primate Fiasco on the Theos’ stage. They’ll be playing on and off throughout the day.
Goosepimp Orchestra is an 8 piece psychedlic latin/funk dance party out of Boston. Driving elements from all over the musical spectrum into an unrelenting cosmic force, Goosepimp’s live performance at Theodores have garnered them a reputation for stirring crowds into a dancing frenzy. Smothered with high en
ergy and seasoned with a carefully crafted balance of experimentation and groove, our Theos’ regulars fell in love with them.
Coming from Providence, RI, Sauce packs a mega punch with bringing down the funk. Led by lead singer Chelsea Lau, Sauce features guitars and synth, 3 piece horn section along with a serious lock on rhythm between bass and drums. Their sound is utterly danceable and they’ll be the first ones shredding up the rug!
Big Jon Short has been coming in and entertaining our audience for years now down at Theodores’. Based in the Northeast US, he travels and performs between 150-200 shows per year in BBQ joints, blues rooms and festivals from Massachusetts to Mississippi. Here’s to another at Theos’!
With over 35 breweries coming in to sample their brews and these 4 amazing bands, we only have one question…
